All About the Farmingshow
In 1994 it began as a half hour rural feature on an independently owned Southland radio station. Today it has grown to an hour, become an integral part of the farming day and can be heard throughout the country on Radio Sport and Newstalk ZB. It’s the Farming Show, and thanks to the marvels of modern technology it is now available for anyone at anytime on the Internet.
Farmingshow.com is something quite unique in the farming world. It brings together news, views and interviews on all things rural (and a few which aren’t) and takes them from on-farm to on-line.
Farmingshow.com is updated daily, providing around–the–clock access to the latest news and comment on farming, the economy, politics, sport and weather.

All About The Host - Jamie Mackay
A former accountancy student at Otago University and Lincoln College graduate in agriculture, Jamie farmed at Riversdale for 10 years before a brief and undistinguished career as a househusband.
In 1994 he negotiated the purchase of 4ZG from Radio New Zealand – the first, and only, sale of a state–owned radio station to private enterprise in New Zealand.
From those early forays into radio, Hokonui Gold established itself as one of New Zealand’s most successful private radio stations, before leasing its operations to The Radio Network in June 2004 and expanding the Farming Show nationwide on Radio Sport and Newstalk ZB.
A former Southland B rugby rep, he’s a member of TRN’s Invercargill–based rugby commentary “Scream Team” and he writes a weekly sports column in the Southland Times.
In 2003 he led a 74–strong farming tour group to the UK and Ireland and in 2006 returned to run the London marathon, repeating the feat in 2007 in New York. In 2009 he completed the trifecta at the Boston Marathon after taking in the Masters Golf (watching not playing!) at Augusta, Georgia.
When he’s not talking farming, politics or sport, he relaxes by playing pretty average golf. He’s involved in a wetland restoration project on his home farm, where he also enjoys duck shooting with old primary school mates.
He has a weakness for chardonnay, Chinese takeaways and Coronation Street.
