Federated Farmers says there's plenty of reasons for Hawke's Bay sheep and beef farmers to remain positive, despite a gloomy profit outlook.
Figures from Beef and Lamb New Zealandâ s New Season Outlook report predict a 27 point 5 percent decline in profits over the next year.
Federated Farmers President Bruce Wills says the prediction is disappointing and doesn't bring a lot of confidence to the sheep and cattle industry.
"It's just going to be a tough year, certainly well down on last year. But we'll get through it, but longer term the outlook for meat is still pretty strong," he says.
