Rural property prices in Northland and greater Auckland have ballooned in the past 12 months.
Real estate firm Barfoot & Thompson says the average price of rural properties sold in the region have increased by 20 per cent in the year to June.
In Northland, the average price has jumped to $19,000 per hectare for dairy farms, and $10,000 per hectare for dry stock farms.
Barfoot & Thompson chief exec Wendy Alexander says low interest rates are making rural properties an attractive buy.
