Changing times means a South Island based financial institution is closing some branches with 17 people losing their jobs.
NZCU South is to close what were known as Credit Union branches in Lawrence in Otago and in Hokitika and Westport on the West Coast.
Another couple of branches in Christchurch and Invercargill will be merged into the main offices in their respective cities
The restructuring follows a drop in loan activity, falling membership growth and a move by customers away from physically fronting up at branches to do their transactions.
