Barack Obama has made fun of himself at the annual correspondents' dinner, but this time with more of an edge.
Newstalk ZB US correspondent Richard Arnold says Obama expressed his frustration that Republicans have been talking about their need to reach out to ethnic minorities at a time when he can not get any of his policies through.
"Call me self-centred, but I can think of one minority they could start with."
There were also a number of jokes about himself.
"These days I look in the mirror, and I have to admit I'm not the strapping young Muslim socialist that I used to be."
Barack Obama also spoke of the flak he encountered at home after saying Kamala Harris was the best looking Attorney-General, saying he never knew US Attorney-General Eric Holder was so sensitive.
The Correspondents' Dinner, or 'Nerd Prom', is held by the White House Correspondents' Association to acknowledge the journalists who cover the White House affairs.
