Police demand apology over news story

By: Newstalk ZB staff | New Zealand News | Tuesday July 17 2012 15:50

Gisborne police are demanding a retraction and apology following a TV news story about the weekend's triple car chase fatality.

One News claimed the driver, Dylan Kingi, had been jailed for aggravated robbery.

Senior Sergeant Maui Aben says that is completely untrue and suspects the network got its incorrect information from the internet involving another person with the same name.

He says it has caused huge additional distress for a family which is suffering enough already.
