Child Cancer Tauranga says all proceeds from an auction selling off a Rena lifeboat will go a very long way.
The 7m orange lifeboat has been donated by the shipwreck's owner Costamare Shipping.
There have been 56,000 views on TradeMe, and with just over a week to run on the auction, the current bid is well over $15,000.
Fundraising manager Delwyn Hahunga says this is something good to come out of the disaster.
She says money will be used to provide one on one support for families.
Ms Hahunga says financial support is essential as a child cancer journey can last three years.
