Attempt to avoid big cat battle going to trial

By: Dana Kinita | New Zealand News | Thursday July 12 2012 15:11

There's an attempt to avoid the battle over who owns the big cats at a Northland wildlife park, going to trial.

A judicial mediation conference has been held in Auckland High Court chambers, between the former director of Zion Wildlife Park, Patricia Busch, and her son, 'Lion Man' Craig Busch.

Mrs Busch's lawyer Evgeny Orlov says the proceedings are confidential but confirms progress has been made in reaching an agreement.

"I think everybody has to come down to some reality that in the end the courts are not going to be there to resolve basically what is a very, very long-standing family dispute."

Craig Busch is working at the park, now known as Zion Wildlife Kingdom, after new owners took over last year.
