A political commentator believes the writing's on the classroom wall for Hekia Parata.
The Education Minister this week announced a complete reversal of plans to change teacher student funding ratios.
The scheme had drawn an outcry from the education sector.
Otago University's Dr Bryce Edwards told TVNZ's Q&A programme the affair has damaged Hekia Parata's credibility.
"I think she'll be gone as Minister of Education in the next reshuffle because her relationship with the sector is now terrible."
Dr Edwards says teachers won't believe the Minister backed down because she's listened to them.
