Alliance Group has its eyes on big export growth in Asia, after announcing a new 12 year deal with a Chinese partner.
The partnership between the meat company and Grand Farm Group, the single largest importer of Kiwi sheep meat, will be marked with a special anniversary label on more than two million packs.
Alliance has been exporting to China since the mid-1990’s, and now boasts the largest amount of sheep meat the country.
Alliance chief executive Grant Cuff says the deal will mean big things for New Zealand’s sheep meat industry.
"In the 12 years we have been involved with Grand Farm, the Chinese market has become more sophisticated and consumption of lamb has increased.
"There is also growing demand for more further-processed product," he says.
