Rural pilot safety will go under the microscope at an industry meet up in Rotorua this weekend.
More than 150 delegates are expected at the New Zealand Agricultural Aviation Association conference.
The association will look to adopt the voluntary AIRCARE protocol, which streamlines aviation safety training.
NZAAA chairman Graeme Martin says while rural pilots have a great safety record, more training couldn’t hurt.
“The goal is zero harm,” he says.
“To our way of thinking, we must not only learn from the free lessons, where nobody is harmed, but also take a predictive preventative approach.”
