Christchurch Police have found the bodies of two women missing since Saturday.
The bodies have not yet been formally identified but they are likely to be those of 62 year old Marilyn Zidich and her 35 year old daughter Selina Madden.
The bodies were found inside a grey hatchback found in dense scrub about 70 metres down a bank in Dyers Pass Road..
Attempts are now being made to recover the vehicle and bodies..
Detective Senior Sergeant Hill says the deaths will be reported to the Coroner, who will make a determination as to the cause of death.
