A Napier teenager will face driving charges this week following a police pursuit which reached speeds of up to 185 kilometres an hour.
Police allege they tried to stop an 18-year-old driver after they saw him speeding on Swamp Road on Saturday morning.
He raced ahead, leading police on an eight minute pursuit, before pulling over at the Napier Golf Course, where police arrested him.
The teenager has had his vehicle impounded and his licence suspended.
He'll appear in the Hastings District Court, charged with reckless driving, driving at a dangerous speed, failing to stop for police, and resisting arrest.
