Road closure as rocks block path

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Latest Wellington News | Friday June 29 2012 6:25

Massive swells have sent rocks crashing on the road around Wellington's south coast this morning.

The Wellington City Council says the road from Owhiro Bay to Breaker Bay is covered in rocks, seaweed and gravel after the southerly storm hit the coast.

The tunnel near Moa Point, running under the airport runway, is currently closed.

Council workers are clearing the damage and will know more the extent of the damage at day break.
